The Buddha's Enlightenment Story - by Venerable Bodhi Bhikkhu
As a Buddhist, we possibly know more or less the story of Buddha's own enlightenment. However, most of us may know very little about the details. For example, during the 7 days intense meditation under the Bodhi tree, what thoughts appeared in the Buddha's mind? What meditation attainment did the Buddha achieve prior to the final liberation? What investigation did the Buddha conduct to obtain the liberating knowledge? Is it true that the Buddha's enlightenment was triggered by looking at a star?
Come to our weekly Dharma study. Together, we will learn the
Buddha's enlightenment story as illustrated in the sutras from
Majjhima Nikaya, The Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha (相當於北傳
中阿含). The lectures were given in English by Venerable
Bhikkhu Bodhi during a 3 years long course titled "Exploring the World
of the Buddha, a Systematic Study of the Majjhima Nikaya". If you
